Old Rosalie Tea Towel

A Vintage/Beach/Chic style is what I have running constantly through my head at the moment, after purchasing my lovely new tressle dining table last week, Im looking to match some furnishings and some worn out looking fabrics,  So whilst I had a spare minute over the weekend I cleared out the kitchen draws, delving in and pulling out all the old spoons and serving cutlery that I was probably looking for all last summer at various bbqs and entertaining events,  And there neatly folded away in the corner was my old favourite teatowel, just the thing to get me into my vintagey style mood.

This Beautiful Rosalie fabric from the UK, the first teatowel I had ever made, and thinking about it, probably the only one I ever made, now almost 8 years old.

I popped it into the washer and gave it a nice dry on the line, and hey look, a gorgeous vintage teatowel, shabby chic by all accounts, faded but still looking remarkably chic!!

My old favourite
I dont usually have pink around the house these days, I left the shabby chic movement in the UK, but as some of you will know, it is one of my fav colours, and im going to incorporate into my beachy style dining room.  I  will now just leave this lying somewhere looking good with its faded roses and worn out print.  Maybe on the shelf with some old vintage teacups and saucers I collected years ago.  Ummm now off for some more rummaging in the cubboards, Im on a roll.

Susie ~ just loving that fabric.

Laminated Loveliness for you.....

If you love the soft feel of the laminated cottons from Amy Butler, you will adore these cushions, ideal for poolside and deckchairs.

A customer asked if I made cushions from the laminated cottons, and well here is the finished item, I made these 3 for me at the same time in the large European size.

Great for when the kids pop out of the pool for a drink and a nibble, nice and cumfy.

See the full range of Amy Buter Laminates in our store.  To make your own, you would need approx 0.75 metre for the large size and 0.50 for the smaller size.

This size is 60cm x 60cms,with a zipped back in the same lovely lamianted fabric.  Our prices are -

60cm x 60cm, including insert ~ $65.00 (postage extra)
60cm x 60cm, cover only ~ $59.99 (postage $1.95)
40cm x 40cm, including insert ~ $55.00 (postage extra)
40cm x 40cm, cover only ~ $49.00 (postage $1.95)

These will be available on our website this week, and availalbe in all the laminates from Amy Butler - this is just a little preview of our new cushion range.  We hope you love them too!!

A small mention in a large Newspaper

Its always a great feeling when a Newspaper or magazine call you up to write a small piece on you.
Entitled - Lifes Little Luxuries In Big Demand.......

I had a lovely mention and short interview with the Sun Herald last week, and lots of gorgeous piccies taken.

To be mentioned in the same article as the gorgeous  - Absolutely Beautiful Things Blog, was a real treat, to think that my store is up there with the best in Brissy.

So thank you to Ellen who arranged and interviewed me.  It so nice to have a small but worthwhile moment of fame. -

"On the Gold Coast, customers of online fabric shop owner Susie Wren are stocking up on pretty fabrics which they use to make their own cushions, curtains and artwork.
"We still want to surround ourselves with beautiful things, such as gorgeous cushions - but these things are expensive. Not everyone can afford to spend $150 on a single cushion," Ms Wren said.
"I get ladies buying small amounts of expensive designer fabrics to sew into their own cushions at a fraction of the price.

"If they have any scraps left over, they can create their own artwork out of it.
"There really has been a resurgence of women coming back to craft, sewing and the like, to try to save money, while still getting their fill of pretty things."
Ms Wren, who started her shop ijustlovethatfabric.com.au in 2008, is planning to open a shopfront - but she admits now is probably not the time. "The economy is a bit shaky to be opening a new shop I feel, although I do want to do it eventually," she said.
"At the moment, I'm doing well and am very busy just working online with my customers. The demand for beautiful things is still high but my customers want to do it in a more creative and inexpensive way."
